Honstly I think you will not get a DSC signal from your C-120 to your Icom !!!!!!!!

Cut the plug off and solder the wires. Or, use one of those European connector strips in a small plastic project box from Radio Shack if you plan on lots of changes.

Are you talking about cutting off the RCA jack and replacing it with a phono jack? I'd only ask why bother? I went to Radio Shack and bought a 3 foot cable with the RCA on one end and nothing on the other. Wired it as required and was done with it. (Well I was done till I ripped it all out to install this 120 like you did . Now I'm doing it again.)

I think the RCA jack would be more water resistant than a phono anyway. Don't you?

No that is not it; they sold me a phono jack instaed of an RCA jack and my DSC is not working. I am receiving illegal sentances in sys diag under input devices in the C120?

A "phono" plug IS an RCA jack, same thing.

What radio are you trying to connect?

The center pin on the phono plug is the NMEA+ wire. The radio's NMEA input should be connected to you C120 NMEA output.
