Random Quote: Tell the girl at the bar that I named my boat "AFTER YOU".
I looked at those before buying (from BOE) recently, and got the impression that the base map was only good down to a certain zoom level, then you'd have to buy the Bluechart? Is this not right?
Just checked mail box and have message from Garmin.
Updates will be available when the time comes for updates. They do not know at this point how this will be done, but will be definitly be updated when time comes.'

The GPSMAP 192C is ideal for seafarers who log a lot of miles on their boats, or for people who don’t have access to a PC to load individual charts onto their plotter. The unit boasts built-in, highly-detailed BlueChart cartography of the coastal United States—including Alaska and Hawaii. This data provides detailed coastlines, shaded depth contours, navaids, port plans, wrecks, restricted areas, and more. Boaters can also purchase pre-programmed data cards of other BlueChart regions—like Canada or the Bahamas—or charts of inland U.S. lakes.
The unit has been updated with a new look and feel that makes marine navigation even easier. Building on Garmin’s popular and proven GPSMAP 182C, the GPSMAP 192C has a new and brighter display that makes charts incredibly easy to view—even in direct sunlight. The unit also features an updated faceplate.
Designed for easy installation in your boat’s open cockpit or overhead boxes, Garmin’s GPSMAP 192C Sounder helps you chart a clear path to your fishing or boating destination.

Hello, all. Trying to get some advice on the Garmin chart/plotter. Seacraft 20 MA fishes within 40 or so miles, and cruises inshore. Need something as simple as possible to access basic and important features. Have original, working Sitex XJ-1, which was difficult to navigate, for me. I think I would like the 192C, for $600 over the larger 188C. How difficult would it be to transfer from 20 MA to 15 Whaler? Two transducers, and two transponders? I'm very non-computer savvy. OH, does it show??? Vezo, Part II.
Capnjoe - thanks for the pointer - I just joined. To be honest I never understood what the wheels meant and I didn't realise there was something to join.
As you know by now,,,lots of great info on here. I'm not a big poster but I do a lot of reading and have learned tons of info on THT.
I'm waiting for the 192C to get released to the vendors and I'm going to pick one up. As I said in a earlier post it looks perfect for me.
Patience is the key...
Joe

Anyone have an update / better guess when the 192C's are going to really hit the street? Seems odd that BW gets to sell these things @$900 for weeks before anyone else can get them. I'd really prefer to buy from a board vendor, but may not be able to wait. I have a trip coming up in a couple of weeks I'd really like to get the unit set up for . . . Anyone know?
Hey Phil,
The Wheel is the Captain's club logo - it shows that you have helped support the site (as it is a labor of love sort of arrangement). If you click the "Click for more info . . ." link under your name on the post, it will show you how to help if you're so inclined. When I joined it was $25 - I feel like I got a deal!
Went back to getfeetwet.com site a few days after my post and saw the price had been changed to $720. I'm pretty mad that I hadn't already pre-ordered at that $600 price (although I wouldn't be surprized if they would make everyone who gets it pay $720 since that will be the price when it ships). Sorry to get everyone thinking the 192C could be had for $600. I guess one of those "it sounds too good to be true" type of things.
