Received the PC-Planner softwware and card reader. I tried to write to the card and the software informed me that the card isn't formatted. I can't figure out how to format the card using the software. I don't want to have to drive to the boat to format it in the plotter.
I'm not looking at the software at the moment, but off hand, you go to the File Manager (within the PC Planner software) by clicking on the File cabinet icon, then select the card slot where the card is, and then click format.* You may have to right click to get the Format.... ..*** If you don't get a better answer by tonight, I'll look and re-post.
I had a similar problem, but not from the software, rather I got the error when I put the storage chip in my Raymarine unit.
I contacted Raymarine support, was advised I needed a firmware upgrade for the display unit. Took it to my local dealer, got it upgraded, worked great.
Question. I bought this as I use C-Map NT for my Navnet. I can use the demo, but do I have to put in a chip to really use this thing? I guess I do and it seems stupid to ask, but if I put in my chip, then what is the "user card" for? Should I read the instructions? I hate doing that.
You do not need to put in a chip, but you have to have the card reader hooked up. The serial number you entered is tied to the card reader to make sure you actually bought it. It is commonly called a dongle.

The user card allows you to store Waypoints & Routes.* You can then take the card to your plotter on the boat and use the Waypoints & Routes you created on your PC
You will only be able to upload marks....or waypoints part of a route to your Furuno chartplotter....but keep checking with c-map...a downloadable upgrade to allow transfer of waypoints (not part of a route) is due soon for Furunos. Be sure to only enter 6 character names of waypoints (the PC Planner accepts 8) because the Furunos only allow 6 character names of points and any over that will upload in a jumble to the plotter. I just entered all my numbers and wiil have to go back later and change from "marks" to "waypoints" in the user points list screen after downloading the upgrade...remember to save your entries to your computer BEFORE upgrading so you won't lose them. Hope this helps. Greg
The following link will give you instructions to format the user card. This info. is also in the owners manual which is located on the CD you received.
