Default Group 31 Battery Hold down trays

I bought 4 Sears Platinum AGM's for my project and looking for some decent battery trays. Searching the net, I have only been able to come up with trays for Grp 27's. I actually bought 4 Grp 27 trays and they won't fit the batteries. I see where Gill marine has powder coated alunimun trays for north of a hundred bucks each. Not interested.

I don't need boxes, as I want to have access to the terminals without taking a stupid cover off.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

Not cheap, but GREAT Stainless battery trays. I hve 4 of these installed and LOVE them. He's a THT vendor as well, and can make them custom for you batteries, setup....

I have the Deka batteries, and he made me a duel side by side tray for 2 batteries next to each other. LOVE it!! Saved me alot of space...

The factory built my boat w/ five group 27 batteries and the shallow trays shown.

My upgrade was to six group 31 batteries, using the same trays, I just added one more and shuffled them around for the configuration w/ six batteries.

The group 27 tray works fine w/ the group 31 battery because the bottom 1" of the group 31 battery is tapered to a smaller footprint.

The part I use is identical to the one shown here on ebay.

I hope you have better luck with the Sears Platnium's than I have. I had one failure at the 2 year mark, and the replacement only lasted one year. I guess I will replace with a standard Walmart group 27 with that type of durability.

I got 6.5 seasons with my stock excide wet cell. Just replaced my 3 trolling bats with wallmart group 27 everstart. I do need to replace my hold downs. Can you just get the hold downs if you already have the plastic trays? The stock ones are straps that are starting to fall apart. i want something a little stronger than straps.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions on the trays. I'm going to bite the bullet and get the aluminum ones built by Gil (now owned by Hardin)
I don't like the ones with a nylon strap and made of plastic. The Stainless ones are well made, but I would add about 40lbs (4 of them total). Not that 40 lbs is a lot of weight, but I'm trying to save weight where I can.
I also don't like the box type either because it is almost impossible to get the battery out of the box in tight spaces.
The composite ones are not available for group 31, At least I can't locate them.....

As far as the comment on the Sears Platnium problem. Sorry you had trouble. These are the same batteries as Odessy and have provided great service by the majority that have used them. according to what I have read on THT.

BTW, nice battery bank "Wingless"

Can you give us a website or contact for the aluminum battery trays? I'm also looking for this as I'm in a new boat build and looking for something to hold my batteries down.

These are really high quality, but so is the price. No one seems to be discounting these, if anyone finds them for less, please let me know. Thanks

Found these Aluminum battery hold down trays. They are still a little pricey, but look like they would keep the batteries in place and will work with the group 31's.
