Default RE: SIMRAD AP12 Install follow-up

John, You're gonna love that boat!* It's darn close*to my 2530 DVEC*with 250 OX66 on a bracket.* I'm starting my fifth season and have zero complaints. I fish the Chesapeake.

As to the AP12H, I mounted the pump and computer in the*helm compartment (instrument box?),*using the wall next to the aisle; computer above and pump below.* Hoses are about 24 inches to the helm. Compass is across the aisle on the*inside of the v-berth wall near the aisle so the wire runs across above the door and into the top of the instrument box. I removed the top trim strip to get into the instrument box, then replaced the strip.* Control pad is on the dash to left of instruments.* I used a hole saw for the dash hole. Note that the dash is about 1 inch thick.* Don't plan*to use*a cordless drill!

Only other hole I needed was through the transom for the rudder position indicator.* I drilled a 3/8 hole*(2 inches thick)*near the existing hydraulic*lines*and*hammered thru a*scrap of the 3/8 OD plastic hydraulic hose.* I recessed the outside end 1/8 inch, inserted the wire and sealed the end for a watertight thru-hull.

Since we have such similar boats, feel free to contact me at devarbur@yahoo.com if you have other questions on your boat.
