Raymarine's website states that the "E-Series displays will network with electronic engine instrumentation that supports the NMEA 2000 protocol for engine data. Many leading engine manufacturers are currently developing NMEA 2000 compatible engines systems. Once an engine is certified NMEA 2000 compatible, a simple plug and play connection to an E-Series display enables the display to repeat engine data."

Anyone know if the Zukes or Verados use MNMEA 2000 compatible protocols? I checked Suzuki's webiste but couldn't find anything useful.

I'm* 99.9% sure the Verados have the 2000 NEMA protocol.*

Sorry, but the NMEA 2000 protocol is not set yet. I don't know about Suzuki but Mercury is apparently attempting to limit access to their engine data to encourge the purchase of other Brunswick brands, e.g., the Sea Ray navigator. This may result in them being marginalized. They're doing the same with autopilots and Verados, only one off-brand company will connect ( and rumor has it Brunswick intends to buy this company).

Also, I just read an article comparing new 2 cycle engines with 4 cycles. It seems the 2 cycle may not be dead yet!
