Default AP for 1986 Tiara 3300 Flybridge?

I am in the process of buying a 33 flybridge Tiara. I would really like to get the best Auto pilot for this vessel. It will primarily be used while trolling for salmon and trout on the Great Lakes, speeds between 1-3 knots. Will a good auto pilot be able to track straght in choppy 4-6 foot seas at speeds this slow? What unit am I looking for? In the future I would also like to upgrade the other electronics(FF/GPS/chartploter/Radar) so future compatibility is an issue as well as cost.
Thanks for the help.

Slammin,
Need some more info in order to help. What is the displacement of the boat? How is it powered? Is it hydraulic steering? Dual helm?

J,
The vessel displaces 13000 lbs and has a single upper helm. Power is twin FWC 350hp Crusaders. Steering is hydralic, according to current owner(have been unable to verify and he seemed unsure). I hope this information helps you to be able to help me.

Slamin, not sure were you are located, but the Hottest ap on the market is the TR1 by Nautamatic Corp. I have been in the marine industry for 25 yrs and this is the finest ap on the market. It will handle your boat like a dream. It has feature that no other ap has and the performance is second to none. If you woudl like more info give me a call 407-925-3462 or email me @ TSMSS@aol.com. The unit is $3850 plus install, I typically have been selling them for $4000 installed. I am located in Florida. If you are out of my area, I would be happy to get you in contact with a dealer in your area. Thanks for the inquiry.

Slamin: A couple of additional note: the TR1 is the only ap that can handle the 1-3 knot in 4-5 seas. It's technology is far ahead of everyone else. Are you up in the Northwest. If so, TR1 is out of Oregon. Check out the TR1 you won't be disappionted. There website is www.Nautamatic.com. If you call the factory tell them that Chris from TECH SERVICES told you about the product.

tsmss,
First of all I was wrong about the steering it is cable driven or mechanical, is this a problem with the TR-1? Second will this unit accept heading data from a chartplotter and radar?
Thanks for you help in advance
