Does anyone know the where are the NEMA wires on the Merc Smartcraft gauges? My speedometer can display Lat/Lon and speed if hooked up to a GPS. I looked in the owners manual but there's no mention of it.
I have only installed the system monitor gauges, but my guess would be that the data link cables that plug into the smart tack and spedo have pig tails for the NMEA connection, thats where all the option wireing ties into the system monitor 1000, all the cable terminations look the same.

Thanks for looking it up for me. Which doc are were you looking at? I looked in my Merc Smartcraft supplement manual but there's no reference of NEMA or any wiring.
I yanked apart the gauge panel last night and I do see several wires that are capped. Do you know the color code for the NEMA interface?
Thanks for taking the time to look this up for me. You definitely saved me some running around with Mercury customer service. I will try and hook it up this weekend and report back the results.
Thank you very much for the NEMA wire code for the Smartcraft gauges. I hooked it up this morning and it worked perfectly. A pair of blue/white wire was right there behind the speedo.
Now it displays some info. Before it would say ....no gps.....
Looks good, I like the troll control, The range at current fuel burn is nice also. I just changed
my trim switches out for the digital ones so the trim function would work, my dealer just swaped for no cost.
Yeah, I think the Merc Smartcraft gauges are great. I initially didn't want them but had no choice because the boat got discontinued so I had to just buy the one on the lot. The one thing I wish it displayed with total fuel burned similar to the info you would get from a Flow Scan. I heard this info is available if you install the Merc SmartMonitor.
Aubv,
You were close. This is a 2001 23' Conquest with twin 135s.
The system monitors I installed (sc1000) do show total fuel burned and GPH being used, I still have to use my head to convert GPH/Speed into MPG
This is ok though because I have done all the math and know where my best runnung speeds are now. I was going to install Flow scans, but my dealer sold me these things for $300 a pair his cost, I figured I would not have to mess with the fuel lines and they are also a digital Tach, trim gauge, water PSI,Water temp, hour meter and so on.
The ECM holds all this info so the hour meters where 149 and 142 respectivly when I installed them, It shows I favored the port engine during the spring SKA tournys, I will even them out in the fall. I still love the troll control on the smart craft Tach and spedo though. What size boat and what engines are you running?
