I just got a GAM antenna for my vhf..8 foot rated at 9dB. It's all aluminum and you're supposed to trim it to length for the proper frequency...so here's my options:
1 - trim it to optimize one particular freq.
2 - trim it to the mid range of just the transmit/receive freq.
3 - trim it to the mid range of all freq. including Wx.
I'm leaning towards 2 but could be talked out of it.
Optimize it for Channel 16 (156.8 MHz). The difference in gain will be negligible for any other TRANSMIT frequency. The optimization is for transmission only - reception will not be affected at all.
