You might want to do a search, there's been a lot of discussion about XM and Sirius in the past. In "your" own words........ duh huh!
Sorry, couldn't resist being so close to Charlotte....

We just traded in my wife's 2001 Honda Accord EX Coupe for a 2004 Accord EX Coupe V6, 6 Speed manual transmission. This is an awesome car. Anyway, it came with the satellite radio. It is really cool, excellent reception and tons of choices for your listening pleasure. I am thinking I HAVE TO HAVE one of these for HOT SPOT!

I have it in my boat-it's great!! Reception is fantastic for up to 100 miles offshore--no skipping or changing CD's for me anymore.

I installed a XM radio on my boat and love it. I spend a lot of time in Baja and it's nice to be able to get so many channels of music/news.

Incidently, XM will tell you their system will only work up to 100 miles from US borders. I know from experience, it works fine in Cabo San Lucus, some 700 miles south of the border. A friend has an XM on a sportfisher, out of Cabo, and his works another 300 miles south.

I use one of the "transferable" units so I can move it between my truck and boat. After a season on the water I have had no problems with this setup.

XM on the boat is awesome! It is the only sound source that I have on my boat. No FM, no CD's, no tapes, just turn it on and it works! Wish I had put it in last year.

I have the XM also. I use the Delphi SkyFi receiver. I have their home kit and cradle to use at home and their car kit for use in the car. My boat is big enough to use the home unit so I run that off an inverter along with the home stereo.
Question: for those of you using the XM on your boat, what antenna do you use? The marine antennas cost about a $100 but I have been able to simply work with the antenna that comes with the home unit. The car kit comes with a magnetic mount antenna so I wonder if this has any practical use on the boat?
Thanks.

Seaduced,

Long time since you posted.............but.........if you are still reading...........

I just mounted the car magnetic antenna on my boat. We have a "hard top" on a Grady Cat. I just finished this and have not been fishing with it yet.............but it works real well in my drive way!

I will advise after this weekend.

I purchased the Terk antenna to go up on the hardtop. However, while just temporarily installing to listen to while working on the boat, I found out the magnetic mount antenna works in the cabin of the boat shooting through the fiberglass/plywood core roof.
