Just received the S1G 6001 pilot. First, how do I know whether I received the S1g or the S1? Second, should the inside of the fluxgate compass feel loose--as if something is unattached inside? Thanks--Birdman--are you listening?
On the compass you should see a P/N of E12115. If you see E12114 this is not the G verision.
What do you mean by loose? Do you hear anything rattling inside when you shake it?
Thanks--I thought I may have received a broken unit. The outside of the box has the S1G model number E12120 but the inside fluxgate did not look any different than the normal one. I guess I'll have to check the serial number on the fluxgate itself just to be sure.
The compass is the same for both the g and non-g versions. You need to look at the control unit. It will tell you whether or not it is a g unit, but if the box is labelled that way, I wouldn't worry too much unless you got it from somewhere questionable.
Just installed the pilot yesterday. Have not yet bled the pump. What a pain--the new pilot came missing a few parts--most importantly, the actual tie rod knuckle joints to connect the rudder sensor to the rudder arm. Had to make my own from West marine parts. So much for a well packed Raymarine box. Sure hope the pilot works better than the packing job.
