Default Fluxgate compass mount
I recently purchased a Raymarine RL70CRC and was wondering about heading data input to use the radar overlay feature. Can I just buy a fluxgate compass to replace the compass currently on my instrument panel, and use the NMEA output to provide heading data to the radar? I have seen KVH fluxgate compasses (with 10 Hz NMEA output) online for $260, a far cry from the prices of dedicated heading sensors.

You can use the KVH or even Raymarine part number M92649 this one is 250.00 the KVH 100 auto comp is 370.00..... good luck ...John
