Default Garmin 2010C and updating

I'm planning to buy a Garmin 2010C. My problem is a do not own a Windows PC, only Mac. I have tried to Contact Garmin customer service for a week now and no body has gotten back to me. How will I be able to do updates? Can I send it back to the factory for updating?

Thanks

Buy the PC Serial/110AC connector and borrow somone's PC - Hell, get to Pompano and you can use mine...they also may be able to send you the update on a chip that you load like your map chip...

You can also contact Garmin Tech Support and they will send you updates on a "data card"

Free of charge, just requires a credit card for a deposit.

I updated my 2006C this way.

Unfortunately, GARMIN, like many manufacturers, doesn't do much for MAC users!. What they will do for updates, is take your credit card # and put a $50 deposit on it, ship you a proprietary memory chip with the new software, and credit your deposit when you return the chip. The chip just needs to be inserted in one of the memory slots and will automatically update your unit when you power it up. It usually doesn't take more than a minute or two, depending on the cmplexity of the upgrade.

Be aware that there are upgrades to the main unit as well as the GPS-17 antenna/sensor. They are no where near as frequent for the antenna, from what I have seen, but they do occur.

Great unit, I have mine for over 3 years!

I agree.......Garmin is usually VERY prompt about answering questions on their tech help line.* Doing the updates is just as easy as loading a new chip.....once it is programmed.* Unless you have an older unit, the last few updates don't amount to much.

Good luck with it......
