Raymarine SL72 compatability with Garmin GPS Map 2010

I installed Raymarine SL72 radar side by side with the GPS Map 2010 last year. I am happy with both models, but I haven't linked them together. I simply use my GPS for navigation and look at the radar to get through the fog safely to the tuna grounds.

My questions are:
1. Is it easy to integrate them and when they are integrated, is it easy to set the SL72 up?
2. Is it useful to do this? I'd like to get the most out of my radar but also don't want to confuse the issues.

Any input would be appreciated.

By all means interface your electronics!!!!
I have the same radar and GPS and have them interfaced. In fact I have my 2010 putting out a signal to the radar,a 582 furuno sounder, a sitex autopilot and a vhf.
The great advantage in having the radar interfaced is navigating in the fog. When you put a waypoint in the GPS a course line will appear on the radar screen. In foggy conditions you only have to watch the radar screen and see what is between you and the point, It makes life easier.
Setting them up is a very simple procedure.All you have to do is connect the GPS nema out wires on the output port to the Nema input wires of the radar. Then simply go to the setup menu of both units and set them up. The manual on both units has easy to follow instructions. Garmin will also give you tips on their customer service line. It is just a matter of connecting the right colored wires on both power cords. I don't have my manuals in front of me so I can't tell you the right colors for each unit. It is very easy and will make your navigating much easier!!!

I have an SL70C and a Garmin 182C and I plan on installing them on my new Sea Ray 300 Sundancer. I definitely want to interface the waypoint from the GPS to the radar and the GPS to the VHF. And eventually to a Autopilot. With one NMEA output form the GPS, can multiple NMEA "ins" be connected together. In other works, can the one NMEA outputs be conected to three pairs of inputs? Its the wiring I trying to understand when its one to three, instead of one to one?

The garmin units will handle output to three devices, No problem. What I did was use a connector block to make the splices.Just get the right colors from the garmin and the other units spliced and you are in business!!!
