Default Anyone using a Lowrance Elite 5 DSI?

Thoughts? How is its performance? Can you post screen shots?

I don't have one but thinking about adding one as a second unit. The menus are much simpler than HDS. You can find some good info on the Lowrance Facebook page, look under photo section, lots of screen shots. Try this link:

You can also download an emulator from Lowrance. I downloaded the Elite 5 recently and this is a good way to get familiar with the unit before you get on the water. Link:

Here is a screen shot from the running emulator:

Well I ordered the lowrance Elite 5x DSI and it should be here tomorrow. I had to order some other parts as well for the installation (ram mount, transducer plate), so I hope they all come in time to install for this weekend. Will try and post pics when complete.

Got the unit today. Already a bit letdown that it did not come with a screen cover.

And I hope the actual unit does more than the simulation does. Not at all impressed with that.

If its that big of a deal, they can both be purchased for less than 30.00 for both from www.lei-extras.com

Got the unit installed today, no chance to test yet. Had to let caulk dry.

Finally got a chance to get the Elite 5x DSi wet today. I was gettijng alot of this:

I attribute that to disturbed water..it was just nasty out (20+ mph winds) and a low tide. I didn't really have much to "see"..I could only go in calm waters due to 3-5 footers in our harbor! When I could, this is a good comparison between my Garmin 6208/GSD22/B60-20 degree:

And here is the elite for generally the same area:

I think the Lowrance shows a more "refined" picture than the Garmin combo, but often, I was getting bottom readouts like this, that I don't think really are like this (the Garmin shows a much less "jagged" picture:

I'll go again next week if its nicer and hopefully get some structure. I'll also take my camera, as my phone takes too long to be able to take the next pic, and with the Garmin on "ultarscroll" , the bottom goes by too fast. I played with it at "fast", but then it was slower than the lowrance.

Good info thanks. The Elite unit does take an SD card for screen shots?
