Garmin 182 ? You might find you have a plug in wall supply transformer/charger from some cordless device you can use. Just look for a 12 VDC output on the wall device. The 182 while runing in demo mode without the transducer attached consumes allmost nothing, 500ma is enough for it to run.
If not,go to a Wallmart and look for a universal 12VDC power supply for a game or a small walkman ect.
I have even taken 12vdc off my computer power supply and use it with the serial port connection to upload and download from the computer to Garmin's units.
I did it to my buddy's HP computer and his 182C unit also so we can exchange track plots. That way all you need is the Garmin's #010-10082-00 power/data cable(bare wires),a9 pin serial data plug, and a 4 pin computer power supply plug
