Default C-Map NT question

My first post here, Pardon the newbee question. I need to get a card for my new chart plotter. I noticed there are local and wide cards. Will the wide card be able to zoom to 1/8 mile and have the same chart detail as the local card? I think all I need is the Maine, Casco Bay and approches card, but I'd need the bigger card should I go down to Portsmouth New Hampshire. If the wide card shows good Bay details, I won't need the local card. Please advise.

Wide cards contain the same information as a local card, but cover a larger area.

Yes the detail is the same, as mentioned before same material just how much can be stored on it.

I had the same question when I bought. Basically what you are paying for is the size of the chip.
Kinda like a compact flash card chip, they are all the same physically size but some are 64meg and some are 2gig. Hence the price difference.

And the WIDE cards are a much better value. They cost about twice as much as a standard card and must have 10 times the info. I've got Maine to Southern NJ on mine and the detail and amount of information is amazing.

And welcome aboard!

Great info. and thanks for the welcome and the link. I'll get the wide card. It's all I'll need.
