Default Older lowrance Unit

I have an older Lowrance lcx-19c gps/deth finder, I'm attempting to use a Nauticpath card that I just bought but am having problems with the machine reading it. I tried to update the software on the machine with current verision 1.80 per lowrance web instructions and unit says it can't be updated, when I go into the system information its says the current verision is 1.80. Under Map Data the only choices I get are Lowrance or Miami Demo. When I use a older Navionics card for the Gulf Coast, under Map Data I get all the maps that are on that card, which does'nt help since I am located in New Jersey.
I was going to buy the appropriate Navionics Card, but on there web site it says the only card compatable with my unit is the Gold 3XG, which appears to be a map of south america.
I need some help with this I don't want to keep throwing money away -$70 for nauticpath card already and $200 for new navionics card=$270. New Garmin with map built in $400.
Thanks

Get a new garmin if you can afford it. You'll be much happier with it.

I have the same unit and use the Nautipath card with no problem, guess it is the same card. I bought this card about 5 years ago.

Which slot are you putting it in, I have to put mine in the left slot.

I use a Navionics for freshwater lakes and the Nautipath for saltwater

I will look at mine and see what it says, think I still have the box in one of my tackle bags.

Hot in the garage so this is going to cost you a Dos Equis

Sorry forgot to look, Admiral and I were on the lake all afternoon and it never crossed my mind. I will take a look in the morning.

However I have NEVER updated my unit but there is a local guy that one of my clients told me to go to for updates but unit works fine and not sure I want to screw with my unit. Always afraid that something will not work and then I will be dropping $2K on HDS unit and not really wanting to do that right now.

I would also call Lowrance, every time I have called the tech support they have been great

Promise I will look in the am before church, I am early riser in the am and family sleeps later on Sunday am

Did you reset the unit after performing the update? If not, that will probably fix it (often does with Lowrance). Just follow the reset info at the bottom of the page on Lowrance's website with info for your unit (see below)

**BE SURE TO TAKE THE CARDS OUT AND DOWNLOAD ANY WAYPOINTS, TRACKS, ETC... FIRST - as a reset will also erase them**

I tried doing a hard reset where you hold the the zin and zout buttons then hold the power button down until the map comes on, still no luck, but it says under current version 1.80. I was just researching alittle more and I might have to load the files to the unit unlike the navionics where it shows under map files. Still owe you guys rounds of your favorite suds offering a helping hand.

Let me ask this question, do you have the card in the left slot or right.

Never really figured it out but I have to use mine in the left slot

I assume you know how to open the map up, that took some learning on my part in fact I was fishing with a buddy of mine a few months back and he was disappointed in the detail of his Lowrance unit(the 10" screen) and then I showed him he was not even using his map and he was shocked.

Also I did have my first Navionics chip go bad and they sent me a new one

Going out to the boat now to look and see what mine is

Ok thanks, I guess the best thing is to call Lowrance when I get to the boat next week and see what they have to say.

I hate to tell you this, but Lowrance customer service is pretty bad. If I can't get my LCX-19C working right, I might switch to Humminbird.

I spoke with Lowrance Customer Service who were excellent to deal with. Even though the unit and map chip are both discontinued she was able to locate each and could'nt get the chip to work corretly in the unit. The confusion was that on the NauticPath page it did'nt list the LCX19 as one of the units being compatable, but on the LCX19 page where it list what cards can be used NauticPath is listed.
After about an hour they finally realized that the newer "outdated" cards would'nt work, but the older verision of Nautic Path would. I was advised to send the card back and they would either reprogram it or swap it out with a compatable card.
I sent card back this weekend and give an update when the new card comes.

I am glad to hear that you folks have had good luck with Lowrance customer service.

I have a quick question for those folks with the LCX-19C - have you folks had any trouble getting WAAS? I have had trouble and I don't know whether it is the unit or the antenna (LGC-12W). I am thinking of sending the antenna back.

At first I was having problems it get losing "postion". While trying to get the unit to work with the Navionics Card I did a "Hard Reset" where you hold the Z-in and Z-out buttons while pressing the power button until the map of the US apprears, MAKE SURE BEFORE DOING THIS YOU SAVE ALL YOUR DATA ON A SEPERATE MMC CARD AND MMC CARDS FROM UNIT, THIS PROCEDURE WILL RESET THE UNIT BACK TO FACTORY DEFAULT.

Also make sure that you are using the current software version for the unit version 1.8.0 it can be found on lowrances web site http://primus.lowrance.com/support/r...ype=5001#Goto7

I had problems downloading it from my laptop using windows vista, but when I used a older desk top with windows XP it worked perfect.

Sorry for the long-winded email but I spent about 2 weeks trying to get this card to work before I broke down and called customer support, plus I did'nt want to hear from the peanut gallery if the card did'nt work thatIwas spending more money on the boat.

Update from Lowrance. Nauticpath card was sent in almost a month ago, finally heard from lowrance and they said that since it was an outdated item there was nothing they can do and said they have sent the card back (still have not received card) and will offer me a rebate of $50 towards a new unit. I am still trying to contact manager or some type of supervisor to have this resolved. The best answer I got was that the card was the newer version and I need the older version. On the LCX-19 manual it says the card is compatable. When I asked what cards were compatable they could only tell me the older cards.
Sorry for the ranting.

But, I have what should be an older original NauticPath card. The files are dated 2004 &
2005 with one file from 2007 which was a download I did from Lowrance to inprove
the chart color.

Anyway I don't need this card if you want to swap for the card you have or just buy
this card from me. Card words fine, here is a screenshot I just made off of it.

send a PM if you are interested.

Thanks thats a great offer and i'm definitely interested. PM sent.
