Default Furuno vs Raymarine

I'm getting ready to outfit my new Parker 2120 SC. Considering the Furuno 582 or the new Raymarine 770D and DMS250 black box FF. Any suggestions outthere? Which one do you recommend?

Give the guys at www.consumersmarine.com a call. Great prices, too.

Busterone - where did you see the 770D for sale. I thought it wasn't coming out until April? What price are you seeing it at?

I am also looking to upgrade the sounder on my GW Sailfish and have been looking at the Furuno 600L. The article in Saltwater Sportsman on the Raymarine DSM250 technology was intriguing, but I wouldn't trust a magazine article as being objective. I would like to know more about this technology if anyone can help. Also, does anyone have any experience with Raymarine products in general?

You should also consider the JRC FF50 if you're considering Raymarine, since JRC used to make Ray's electroncis for them. The JRC is very comparable to the 582L, but will save you around $200.00.

If not, every one of my friends are super satisfied with the Furuno sounders. I've personally only used the 600L...it is very nice and easy to use.

I have been looking at anumber of color units over the past weeks and plan on waiting till the new Raytheon sounders come available. It is my understanding the Raymarine L770d will not be out till April and the MSRP will be $2345.

Danny, Is the DSM250 their new black box? If it is I spent lots of time on the Ocean 48 that Raymarine outfitted for the Miami show with their electronics. I personally do not like Raymarine's units. The fishfinder seemed very clear and nice. I still prefer the Furuno products.

I went to the Orlando boat show over the weekend and the people at Bethel electronics said the 760 is upgradable for 500 to digital. My 750 is for sale if anyone needs a decent fishfinder.
