Default Garmin Releases another new update today

Garmin released an update called 2010.0622 two days ago.

They just released another update today, called 2010.0623. It has minor updated to the new GMR 604 xHD radar, but seems to have significant updates to anyone that has a GMI 10 unit. So anyone that has a GMI will probably want to get this update.

Keep in mind no one forces you to make the updates.

While it is a pita, most every update adds functionality or support, especially with NMEA 2000 - which is one area the "beloved" Furuno is years behind.

I'm not sure why it it's a pita? I actually enjoy it. Takes 2 minutes to actually do the update (1 minute to download, 1 minute to install). And then I have another excuse to got to boat.

In the broad spectrum of things that can cause a pima, these updates don't even amount to an itch. Unless, of course, they break something that I need.

I've adopted a two-week rule for these updates. Unless it specifically fixes something that is important to me, I wait at least two weeks before I install one. That gives the beta testers (everyone else) a chance to try it first and report back if there is a problem, and Garmin a chance to fix it.

Works for me, your mileage may vary.
