Default fishfinders--find me a good one under $500

what do our experts think is the best fishfinder
for a 25' walk around.i fish in usually less than 200' of water and most times less than 75' down to 10 '.i would like to have a finder with a screen that is very graphic, shows every hump and bump on the bottom also pick up fish off the bumps.i right now have a garmin 240 blue and i am not satisfied

thanks guys

I don't think you'll find satisfaction in the price range you offer. The Furuno 600L can be had for about 740 if you look around. That's about the next step up from your Garmin. There are other b/w machines with 320 x 320 pixels, but they probably wont satisfy you. Good luck

I have been pretty happy with teh lms-320. thats mapping and depthfinder by lowrance. I think w/o gps the unit is around 400bucks. its got around 3000watts, peak to peak. and i do like it better than my buddies 240 blue, but it could be how his was set up also.

I like my Raymarine L470 for $400 with a thru hull ducer. Nothing special but holds bottom at 50 mph in 200' water, and has temp. What more could a man ask for?

My next unit will be color though.

Vin,

I fish in similar waters as you do and have the Garmin 240 also. I am curious why you are not happy with the unit. I mean, lets face it, the unit is not a wet dream or anything but it seems to do a pretty good job overall.
