Garmin 2006/2010 software update to 5.40

Other than the screen being a little fragile I like it. I just received it back from Garmin under warr to replce the screen and was told they had updated it...but they did'nt...was surprised to check and see that they had gone to 5.4 in late june..

I really can't relate to the screen fragility issue although it obviously exists. I own one of the original 2010C's (pre GSD 20) and have not had any problems. Granted, it is an overhead e-box in a WA that is really dry. I have cleaned it with nothing but clear water to dissolve any salts and then a very dilute solution of IVORY and water followed by a rinse and wipe with a micro- fiber cloth.


There is company called "Purple Schmoo" or something like that, that makes a protective film for PDA's and such equipment including Marine Electronics. I think they have a film for the 2006 but not the 2010. It is supposed to work really well. Do a search, you might find them! Catch 'em up!

just put a screen protector on my 320C from purplemoo - works nice - wrote them a note requesting one for a 2010 - you're right.. only for the 2006...

If you can get them to produce one, make sure to tell me! Better safe than sorry! Why does schmoo come to mind? Was that some TV Character or something?
