Yachts By Owner had the best prices I've found so far-and they are a Hull Truth sponsor. Followed by Consumer Marine Electronics. I've heard that large boat show pricing is the best; planning on attending the Miami show to find out.
I will third www.byownergroup.com.
I bought a bunch of stuff there recently. Jim is a nice guy who will help you with your selection and their prices are great.
Don't let price be your only guide. Buy from someone that you build a rapport with. That will listen to what your needs are and will make good suggestions, not just try and sell you what they have in stock. The guys at Bethel are good guys and will help you make the right decsions. Or find a installer like myself to help you out. My customer look to me for advise and guidence. That is part of what they pay for when they use a smaller dealer. Good luck in your hunt.
I agree about building a repport. I wouldn't go to ******* if you don't know exactly what you want or need. I've gone there for advice and received misinformation there on products when they couldn't meet the price I quoted them from another vendor.
I have ordered from b o a t f i x and have had mixed results. The good is that they are honest and decent people. Their prices are fair, not the highest or lowest, sort of in the middle. The bad is they don't have an 800 number and its sometimes hard to reach them. The biggest problem I have with them is they won't quote shipping charges until the item is ordered. In fairness to them the shipping charges are reasonable except for the time I ordered a VHF antenna. The cost of shipping made the overall price much more expensive than buying it locally.
Join West Advantage or Boat US, then go shopping on the net. Call BoatUS or West and get a competitive price match. They'll match the price, then send you a $15 coupon for every $300 you spent. That's 5% cheaper than anyone else's deal. Plus, if you have a prblem, you have a store and a person to talk to, not a phone number 1000 miles away to deal with.
