Default Standard Horizon CPF 180i opinions?

Does anyone have any experience with this unit the Standard Horizon CPF 180i? I did a search, didn't find that much. It seems like a great deal for the price! How reliable are the GPS and FF? How detailed are the charts without the mapping chip? I am also considering a Garmin 541S, Raymarine A50D and HDS-5. Thanks, Mitch.

Don't know that unit but I can say buying a chip for your area makes the units of anyone much better. Granted I haven't checked in a year..... Standard Horizon in my experience has the "best by far" customer relationship. They also have the best unit in reguards to user friendly. Unfortunatly they cost less money than the wanna be units. I also liked how the new Sitex attempted to be as good as standard Horizon in backing there product but it hasn't happened yet. I also liked that they knew some other product that recently became popular was just a wall street ploy. Garmin opened down today due to news.

Standard makes great products, I have the cp180/cp175 and the cp155 on my small whaler, customer service is EXCELLENT!! Product performs well with the cmp chips. Without the mapping chip you won't get the great detail available!

Default Sh 180

I have a new (6 months now) 180 installed on my tuna tower. It installed easy and works well, I have been very impressed with the performance and I am considering buying another larger unit for the helm. The choice for me is Furuno or SH. I can say that the 5 inch is far
too small for my use.

I think it is necessary to have a Cmap (SD) card, or another chart program.
