Default Lowrance Customer Care Sucks

I purchased an HDS-10 with LSS-1 last September. I installed it in November as that was the earliest shipping date for the LSS-1. But last October, 5 months ago I ordered from LEI Extras the cables for the Yamaha engine interfaces and a storage unit, they have been on back order ever since. No one has these cables in the US. I call once a week and am told they will be in in 2 weeks but they never come in. I even wrote a letter to Lowrance in January, no response. This is no way to run a business, thank goodness I have not had any major problems with the unit, but then I have not used it yet. Do not buy Lowrance, their customer support in horrible and they don't seem to care . If I had to do it all over I would have gone with another manufacturer.

I could not agree more, it just amazes me that they come out with a new line of products, the HDS line and you can't get any accessory cables to complete an installation. I had a home improvement company and if one of my suppliers held up my progress, I did something about it, I just didn't tell my customer I would finish the job next week for 5 months. It really says something about a company.

NMEA 2000 unit? Yamaha cables? If the Yamaha cables will work with one MFD on a backbone they should work with any, right? All the newer MFDs share the same cable connections. So, why not get your Yamaha cables from some other supplier? Oh, the others don't have them? Well you could go to the Maretron site and get the stuff you need to make the cables along with the engine connectors from your Yamaha dealer. That way, when you get rid of that hated Lowrance MFD you can just plug your home made engine cables right into the replacement MFD from one of those superior manufacturers. Bingo, no more worries, no?

Baloney regarding the cables not being available. You can get a cable from Yamaha. Jim at BOE sells a field installable connector that goes on one end of the Yamaha cable.

One end of the Yamaha cable will plug into the Yamaha Command Link Hub. The other (with the connector that you added) will plug into the Lowrance.

Instead of criticizing Lowrance why didn't you simply ask for some help?

I understand your frustration about the lack of parts, but as the others have stated....there are multiple sources for these products and a lot of us would be certainly willing to help. I just made a post about connecting Lowrance to Yamaha commandlink bus (to help others). You can do it with a connector from your dealer and a standard NMEA connector from jim@BOE or a number of other sources. All for less money than the Lowrance part to boot.

I had as much trouble finding a fuel flow ducer for my LMF 200 fuel gauge. I thought I was saving money getting the Lowrance over the Navman, but after all the "extra parts" I had to buy, the cost was over the Navman unit. And not to mention the time I had to wait for the new fuel flow ducer to come out.

Anyway, the LMF200 is not working(after a year) and I dread the time I will have to spend with their customer care this spring.

Check this out

my question :
modelOfUnit: LCX 113C HD
serialNumber: 2 in boat
question: i have version 2.5 software on both units. when i create a custom gage, and edit the lable to mean something. everything is fine until it looses communication with whatever the sensor is, i.e. you shut the engine off, your custom label defaults back to the data field tag and you loose the labels you put in. when you turn the engine back on you stillhave the data field tag, your lable is gone forever.
country: United States

thier answer:
Thanks for the email inquiry,

We apologize for the delay in our response to you in the beginning of our peak busy season.

You are powering off the LCX-113C HD units using the "power/light" buttons before shutting off the engines correct? if not, this can be the source of your problem.

Please advise if you need further assistance.

Thank you for choosing Lowrance/Eagle Products.

Yes, that is the problem I wanted fixed because the sonar/ gps runs constantly wheras the big engine only runs when you are cruising.

Of couse I leave the gps/sonar running when I shut off the big engine, you only really use sonar when you are fishing running on a kicker engine.

If I loose my gauge configuration every time I shut off the main engine I'd call that a major bug.

It would be ridiculas to have to shut off the gps/sonar before I shut off the engine. Oh I can't use my gps sonar for fishing??

That's like saying if I don't shut off the radio in my car before I shut off the engine I'll loose all my presets?

WTF man!

awaiting their next volley....
