Default Determining Furuno software version

How is this done? Does the number pop up on your initial start up screen? I have a Navnet 1900 system and am curious about my software version. I assume to upgrade you need a cable from Furuno or can a retailer like West Marine do it for a fee?

After the self check at turn on, before you push any key, you will notice a number at the bottom. the last 4 digits are your software.
I can't tell you whether West can upgrade it. Call Furuno.

The way he mentions above is correct and it is also in your manual.

As far as updating software, you will have to find a furuno dealer, not a seller like West marine. Those monkeys probably can't spell Furuno. My dealer does it for free if you bought it from him and charges a nominal ($20ish) if you bought it somewhere else. This assumes you bring it to him, if he has to travel, it's normal timed rate, unless you bought it from him, then it is still free.

Another option is to send the unit back to Furuno for the software upgrade. It's a free service (except shipping), but it will take a few days longer. Best done during the off-season.

I'm pretty sure Furuno allows free updates for life of the equipment, but allows dealers to charge a nominal "Handling" fee for their trouble.
