Default HDS-10 Problem

Got a HDS-10 in late September and have used it about 20 hours with great success. Yesterday I was using the unit in GPS/Sonar split screen mode. The GPS section would go blank, then lock up and eventually reboot the entire unit. This happended about 4-5 times in the first hour then worked fine. FYI, I have uploaded the last update from a few weeks ago.

Any suggestions????

Wouldn't hurt to try this (insulate NMEA wires, change setup, update to latest SW):

Please post if this works for you. I already did mine and have never had a problem with close to 100 hours.

Default HDS-10 Problem

I looked at the wiring and did not see any wires touching. I did go ahead and tape the ends of the loose wires. Everthing seemed to be OK, but then about 3 hours into our trip the GPS went blank, locked up and then rebooted the system. After this happended I did changed the antenna setting to internal from auto. That worked for the last 1 hour of the trip so we will see?

My HDS-8 will just reboot itself every once in a while. Usually when its been on for a while and I thought when riding in rough conditions but also has happened when anchored and riding in calm conditions. I will be sending the unit in once I pull the boat for the season. The problem is I will not know if they fixed the problem till next season and would hate to lose the system for 6 weeks during boating season. Note: I have done all the software upgrades - 3 since I owned the system and have checked all the power connections.

My HDS-10 just crashed for the first time last night. I bought a new Hotmaps Platinum chart and I was checking it out on the HDS. I was zooming in and out, scrolling fast. All of a sudden my screen freezes and reboots. I was able to duplicate the problem several times. I could not duplicate the problem with the HDS chart set to "Lowrance" instead of "Navionics".
Hopefully this problem will be addressed in a future software update. I am not pulling my unit out of the console unless catastrophic failure.
