Default Blown amp or Head unit?

Hoping a stereo person can help me.

I recently started having issues with my Clarion and I'm in the process of updating the system.

Currently I have a clarion XMD1 hooked up to Clarion amx400.4m with 6 speakers
I had several cp1632 speakers that blew over the past month.

Last week I went down to the boat and the head unit will turn on, but I get no sound. Both amp and head unit are getting power. I replaced all the speakers and made sure all connections are good.

Could I have blown the amp? Or head unit? Will a blown speaker short out the amp?

I will be replacing the xmd1 with the CMD5 but should I also buy a new amp?

Thanks for any help

Depending on the amp if you have a short or any issue they will shut down to protect themselves. You might try plugging the speaker directly in with the head unit and see if it plays. Then youll know if its an amp or not. Also, check your rca connection between the head unit and amp.

You replaced all the speakers and it still doesn't work?

Your next step is replacing the head unit?

You might as well replace the amp also. Or, you could have someone do a little troubleshotting to determine what the problem is. "Throwing parts" at a problem is not the most efficient way to solve the problem.

I suggest you take it to am electronics repair shop and let them figure it out. It will save you some money.
