Default new Garmin AP pump availability?

held off this year on getting an AP after hearing at the Miami show that Garmin was going to bring out a new pump to replace the 2.1L

Anyone know if it's available?

It was press released that it is now out, but i can't seem to find one.

the street price is still similar to the old 2.1L pump of about $950?
Do you know the new part # Glen?

$1199 !?! Darn, so much for the hopeful talk of Garmin's big buying power that was rumored to yield a better pump for less $ than the octopus pump.

I finally got my new 2.1l pump from Garmin after sending my old one back. It is totally different and has a different mounting template. When I shipped my old one back to Garmin they were out of stock of the new pump for almost a month. I tried to reinstall it yesterday but they forgot to send me the verado fittings kit. So I have to call them on monday.

I guess I need to call them and see if I can get a replacement. I have the 2.1l pump, and the lack of stop is causing my steering system to jam if I accidentally leave it engaged and take the boat out of gear. It will just keep trying to turn the rudder even though it is at the pins.

It's a pita to change out though. At least I have quick disconnects on it so it won't be a huge mess (thanks glenn).

they will not replace any pumps - they see it as an upgrade....much like when the 6012 comes out (heh-heh)

gerg, Hit Stanby for heavens sake!!! I have the 2.1l, never had the problem. Never even noticed it keeps going, but I never leave it on when out of gear, why would you do that?

6012? Huh?

so if the new pump is also 2.1L, how do i know if i'm getting the new pump or an old pump?
Is there a unique descriptor to the new pump vs the old?
I'd hate to finally have waited for the pump and order and end up with an old style pump!

Birdie, sometimes it isn't me at the helm, and sometimes things are just bonkers in the cockpit..... Stuff happens, the AP should be tolerant of that.

SarasotaWhaler did you have to pay for the new pump, i have a 2.1 that has been on my boat only a couple months . Mine was installed by a dealer and he told me that garmin would not replace mine. I have lost my lock to lock with the pump thats now installed.

I believe that the last 2 digits of the part number change from -00 to -01. Email Garmin to be sure about that.

Yachtjim of BOE says that the new pump is the same price as the old
also says to indicate preference on pump to ensure correct pump is provided.

I can tell you the pump is completely different. Uses a different template, different manufacturer, and so on. It also has stops.
