Default Yamaha Fuel Management Gauge Only Reads One Engine...

This is my gauge today at 55 MPH at WOT. Obviously this is only reading one engine. How do I fix this?

I am assuming that it did work at one time.

Try disconnecting one at a time to see if your reading stops. Whichever one stops the reading is the good unit. You may want to try checking the connections at the sensor. My FFM gauge shows a P, S or PS (on the left side next to the gph reading) and I can view each separately or both combined by pressing the set button.

If it is a new to you boat, we need to know...

You have 2 sensors more than likely one is bad. Switch the wires on the sensors to see if you have a difference on the guage. It is best if you turn one motor off and then turn the key on to get a reading on the guage, alternating running one engine then the next. If that shows that the senors are working switch the wires behind the guage, this will eliminate the harness and if that does not tell you then the guage is bad. Sensors can be had for 200+ and the guage 350+ dollars Check ebay.
Good Luck

Make sure you get the sensor with 4 screws holding it together; the 3 screw sensors were recalled and many were sold on Ebay.

This one appears to have four screws, no?

This might sound elementary but Did you push the button to only read one motor? You can read port or starboard separately or both together. Looks like you have the gauge switched to just read one motor.....Mark

Push the mode button to toggle between port/starboard or both engines as I remember it. Haven't owned an OB in awhile.

When one sensor is out you no longer have the ability to choose the PS sensors on the fuel management guage.

Default yamaha

had the same problem, took it to dealer (was under warrentee) took them 3 times but fixed it- was sendor on one side of unit.

agree that if you toggle the switch, you can figure out of the port or starbard engine is the problem. the switch lets you read P S or Both. If one sendor is bad you should get no reading from one of the engines whe you toggle the switch
