OK,
I have a Garmin 4212 that I updated some time ago to 5.0. Now, want to update to 5.4. Can I reuse the SD card that has 5.0 on it? Do I hook the card up to the computer and delete the file on it? Just add 5.4? If I do that, will the unit pick 5.4 to upload instead of the 5.0 on the same chip.
See, I told you I am a DUMMIE.
Jeez, I am slowly accepting the fact that computer skills are required to optimize my fishing.....
Thanks, all.
Put the SD card in the drive and run the Garmin update program. It will replace the old update file with the new one. You don't have to do anything else.
If you don't want to delete the old files, just copy them to a folder on your puter before you do.
You can keep all the Garmin update downloads on your PC (put them in their own folder just to be organized). If for some reason you want to "downgrade", just put an SD card in the computer and run whichever update you wish to downgrade to.
Again, thanks to all. I am fully prepped for this assignment. Towing to Key Largo on Sunday. Spending the winter there (4th yr of doing this), goodbye Great Lakes, hello Atlantic.
May you all be blessed with calm seas and buzzing reels.
