Is the battery is for electronics only? No engine is connected to this battery? Is every wire >= the correct gauge? Is every terminal connection tight?

Glen: for the repair of the solder joint, can you fix this while I wait or drop off and pick up?

I had the same problem. Mine was voltage and bad connection, and always happened after going over rough water. Since my refit, I have had no issues.

SoFlo
Call Raymarine at 800 539-5539. They will most likely take care of the problem since it has been a known situation. You will have to send the box to them but I believe that there will be no charge. It is worth a try before it costs you money.

Had a similar issue on a brand new unit. (July 2009). The unit was replaced and my dealer where I bought the boat and electronics from indicated that there was a new software release from Raymarine coming out. You may want to look at Raymarine Technical Update TU 394 issues in Sept. 2009 to see if it is appropriate for your unit.

I'm about two weeks ahead of you and was initially told 3-4 weeks before they could look at mine. Me thinks they have more than just yours and mine.

I traded emails with a guy in support, my first mistake. he got very indignant when I suggested there was a well documented problem in DSM 's that might be causing mine to lose signal and then show 23 feet depth in 120 foot of water. I gave up and bought another hoping it would not have the same problem. What to do when the boat has all Raymarine gear and is out of warranty.

Has anyone had their DSM repaired by Raymarine for free when it is out of warranty under this bad solder problem?

Per the repair dept they have a 3-4 week wait time. I sent my E120 in a week ago. The direct number for the repair dept is 603-881-5200 ext. 2118. I was on hold for less that 2 minutes. Have your serial number ready. They will give you a repair number for future inquiries.

It took me 3 weeks to get mine back from Raymarine, but they did not charge me anything, and it has worked FLAWLESSLY since. The telephone support is a long wait, I think because it is a one person show.
