I was using my Map Source Charts that I imported into Homeport when I shot these pictures. Homeport is backward compatible with all your Map Source Charts and data.
Thanks BWP.. It has recognized my unlocked Bluechart areas..Now I guess I have to dwnld maps from plotter, 2 gig card wasn't big enough, awaiting 4 gig card..Also getting a constant buzz about every 2 seconds on hdd when program running..maybe will go away when I reboot...
Make sure your card has nothing else on it. 2Gig is plenty big enough. Go to "My Computer" and click on the SD card drive and then check the properties. You can reformat the card there as well. Remember though, if you format it you will lose anything that is on it.
There are several features that are different from Mapsource. Talked with Garmin this afternoon after downloading the software with questions and answers are below. Hope this helps.
- cannot select multiple waypoints and change symbol properties, must be done one at a time.
- If you have a pre-programmed G2 vision card, it has to be inserted into the laptop to load the maps. Alternatively, HP will read the older MS data files, but will not get the most up to date maps.
- no other manual available than on line help
- not sure if the product will ever show up under "my garmin" list of products, as the updates are done through the help menu.

Tom,
Thanks for the info. Do you know if that is true even for the US inland lakes and/or US Rec Lake with Fishing Hot Spot. How would you compare it to Mapsource?

BP,
Can you please post the lat/longs of all those sweet spots you have marked?
Downloaded, and installed. Of course going to take some getting used to, so this is prolly premature, but there are few quirky things I don't like as much as mapsource already. I liked the old tabular type presentation of the Routes, Tracks, WP's and Maps. It was really easy to switch back and fourth between them, select the sort by clicking on the header..... Now it looks like they are all jumbled together.
LOVE that can view the G2 Vision chip data, and download/view the same Chartplotter charts. That part is AWESOME!

THAT STINKS. I cannot believe they made it harder to change properties on multiple waypoints. Bascially impossible in HOMEPORT. You'll have to do this in mapsource so don't delete it. Maybe they will change this in the 1st upgrade.
Can't compare to mapsource because I never had it.
Created waypoints and made a route, saved it to SD, all ok, just awkward a bit because it is new to me. Have not put anything back on the plotter yet.
What I have noticed so far is that it seems ok with my 8GIG SD with my 5212 maps attached to the computer. But when I put a G2 vision chip, it reverts back to basic map with NO details.
Is there a default somewhere that I can copy my SD cards to the computer and have it address the card data at that location or do I have to have the card in the reader?
