Default advice on new boat electronics package

hey guys,

i am having a 25 cc being built right now and i am putting together an electronics package for it. here are the components i am pretty set on.

garmin 4212 for chartplotter
furuno gp-32 for backup gps
furuno 585 for sounder
b164 for the transducer
raymarine s1000 for autopilot

i am looking for opinions on a vhf radio, an am/fm/cd player, speakers for the cd player and antennas for the 2 radios. i'm not looking to blow my eardrums on the radio/speakers, just something i can listen to. any other things that i should consider that i might have left out?

thanks for the suggestions. have a great weekend.

Don't know if possible, but if available, why not go with inexpensive garmin gps for backup that you can transfer waypoints back and forth. Just a thought.

I just started on my new Contender.

I went with twin Garmin 5212's with 24" HD Dome and 1K Thru Hull tilted element.

On VHF I went with Icom 504

I am planning the audio side now and am leaning toward the Clarion CMD6 and putting an
in-dash USB plug for ipod (both Clarion and Marinco make this). I will likely go with JL audio speakers and their new marine amp. It draws significantly less power then the M series.

Good luck with the install.

A very nice package would be what you are thinking:

the CMD6
# CCAUSB - usb dash mount
4 7.7 JL coaxials
the MHD600/4

the upgrade from that is the MHD900/5 and add a JL sub (or 2)

if you are consistently running live baitwells, think about paralleling another batt to the house batt....

a few of our JL installs here:

All looks good. If you can budget for it, consider going with a better autopilot.

Glen E,

On the MHD900, can you connect 2 Subs to that 5th channel? On my Contender I may want to put two 10" subs up in the bow.

Thanks
