Default Furuno 585

Hello, looking for reviews on the furuno 585 fishfinder and also wondering if anyone has one mounted on a center console where it is in the sunlight. If do how is the viewing in sunlight? I have a 582 mounted on the console of my 21ft outrage and it washes out in the sunlight.
I will buy a new fishfinder this year but just want to know how the screen looks in the direct sunlight.
Thanks,
Randy

I have only seen good reports on the Furuno 585. In my experience if the fish are there, it will show them.

In direct sunlight the screen is always viewable but can be affected by reflections. It is not as bright as my Garmin plotter but still good.

I believe it is the best sounder you can get short of buying it's bigger bothers in the Furuno range.

I have both the FCV 585 and the FCV 620.
The 585 is excellent with the Airmar P66 transducer and even better with any of the Airmar higher end units.
I use the Tm270W. Amazing results.
Excellent viewing in all conditions.
Excellent at speeds up to 30 mph.
Money well spent.
And you can get service in almost any part of the world.

No need to question the 585 and the 620, pick one and buy it. Thats what is going on my boat as soon as I get back to work... Knobs, easy operation. Commercial fisherman use these models, I think one or more of the captains on the deadliest catch used the same model.

Quicksilver...

The FCV 585 or the 620 with the standard Airmar P66 will give you excellent results and might just be an excellent choice for your boat.
The 620 on a center c. will give you more than enough viewing screen..remember this is a vertical screen.
And if you are fishing under in 500' or less the 1000 watts option on the 585 is not needed. 600 watts will more than meet your needs.

whatever your choice you will appreciate the quality, ease of use and super support of Furuno.

Hodges Marine online is a good source for price and good service...

585 is an awesome unit. i have a center console, unit would not fit in my electronics box so i purchased a Navpod and mounted it on the dash. have no problems seeing or reading it in sunlight.

I bought one from Jim at BOE 2 weeks ago, and the first outing last weekend - I had it side by side next my my old Garmin (which served me well for 3 seasons) and it's confirmed – money well spent... it's like going from a 13 inch TV with rabbit ears to a 50 inch plasma with HD...

Thanks for the replies, I only have an airmar 66 transom transducer but I made the plunge today and bought the 585 from boe. Free shipping and 100 buck rebate. I have an old furuno 582 and wonder what it is worth?
