Default Garmin 2010

Is anyone out there useing a garmin 2010. I am having problems reading anything over 600ft. I would like to know if anybody out there is reading depths more than this. I have tried garmin support any not had very good results. After a bunch of changes in the settings the best they can do is tell me this unit probably dosen't read depths lower than that. Not an answer that I thought I would get from a tech support. I would think it will or will not read that far.
If so what transducer are you using.

You are right. If that is what the tech said, s/he should have known better. There is surely a spec, which will probably differ depending on the transducer used. If I were you, I might try Garmin support again, different tech. And if another says the same thing, I'd ask to talk with a supervisor.

I called Garmin support yesterday and at least in my experience, they have the best tech support I have EVER dealt with barring none. The tech I had was very knowledgable. He spent 20 minutes talking with me about different options concerning accessories, cartography, performance and so on. He said they had the parts I need, but suggested I could get them way cheaper from a source other than the garmin site.
Concerning the performance of (I assume gsd20 or gsd22) sounder module in the 2010.
I have this same unit. The sounder only has 200 or 300 watts of power. Pretty weak for a sounder, especially for over 500 ft depths. Even at 300ft it doesnt have the power to get decent bottom detail.
You need at least 1000 watts to get real performance at those depths.
I think what happens is you end up turning the gain up to make up for the lack of power and it ends up cluttering the shallower levels of the screen.
For some reason Garmin can't make a fish finder to save their life just as Furuno cant make a decent chartplotter.
Sorry for the rant, but these short comings just aren't neccessary.

After researching a little more, the gsd 22 is advertised as having up to 3000 watts of power with the appropriate transducer. Not sure on the gsd 21 though. But these may only be compatible with certain head units.
