Default Transom Mount transducer ablatives.

Have the new transducer in salt water. She is moored in a high algae growth area, mooring lines were covered after 48 hours. In the water already. Was reading the instruction manual (after in the water, of course) and said that in areas like this, a ablative should be added to the transducer before being put in the water.

Does anyone do the rub off themeslves? Best way? If I was to put a ablative on it...what would you recommend. Thanks.

Robalo R260. Raymarine C80 equipment.

I have a thru-hull transducer. I use a transducer anti-foulant paint by MDR. It seems to work fairly well. The rest of the boat is painted with Micron CSC. Between the two, I've never had a barnical on either the bottom or the transducer. The MDR Transducer paint comes in a little plastic bottle and cost about $6. One bottle has been enough for me to do my transducer the past 3 years.

I put ablative on the non working surfaces and brackets. Works fine.

I use the same paints as Recovery Room.

Good results with the CSC, marginal results with the MDR product. The water where I dock can get upwards of 80 deg during the summer. "Chit" likes to grow in water that warm. I still use the paint but scrub the X-ducer more often.
