Default Fishfinders Interchangable?

I have a four year old Eagle/Lowrance depthfinder, a very basic model that gets the job done, but with no frills. Can I upgrade without having to run new wire for a new transducer and power supply? (I did the first job myself, so it's no big deal if that's the case.)

Are these items interchangable or does each company have their own plugs and transducers synchronized to their product? Can I "plug and play" a color model with all the bells and whistles? Do I need to stick with the Lowrance product family? Thanks in advance.

I am a Lowrance fan and can speak to them, but I've never looked at the Eagle line. Best advice I can give you would be to call one of the tech's at Lowrance/Eagle and pose that question. 800-324-1356 8am to 4pm CST........

I'm not sure they even market the Eagle line anymore. It's kinda like the Plymouth equivalent to Dodge as far as Lowrance goes.

If you go to the LEI website, they sell the transducers and power cables for the eagle/lowrance, you look up the model you have, and it will also list the other models that the transducer supports, like my X65 upgrades to a X85, but that is about it.
