Default RE: Fish Finder

I couldn't tell you what is best, that is a personal choice. What I can say is certain things make a FF more worth while. Color is a big help over B/W. Don't buy a unit with fish symbols, thats BS, you want raw data. if you are going with a single freuency, get 200, not 50 KHz.

A through hull transducer is too $$$, you need a transom mount.

If yuo really searcha round, you may be able to pick up a Furuno 600L with T/M transducer for $700.00. If not, you cannot go wrong with a Si-Tex CVS 106L. They are no frills work horse units that should sell for around $600.00 with transducer.

check the following:

consumersmarine.com, brokenlegdave.com, Bethelmarine.com, etc..... Ask if they have demo units or return units too. You might also try calling Furuno, JRC, and Si-Tex directly and see if they have any refurbs for sale. I picked up a Furuno 1650 GPS/FF from Furuno and saved 25%. I sold it to get the JRC unit. I like the up/down display better thatn left to right.
