Default Questions and Opinions on JRC Plot500F

Hello Everyone- On my short list due to space limitations I'm interested in the JRC Plot 500F. I'm sure it's a great FF, but I'm worried a bit about the GPS/Plotter side of it. Can someone tell me what types of pages it has on the GPS/Plotter side? Does it have the standard TTG between waypoints and DTG b/w points. The JRC webpage is TERRIBLE and just want some help before I drop the dough. If someone wants to take it offline and email that way, let me know.

Thanks

I have the unit, and would be happy to answer any questions you may have.

It has all standard pages that you would find on any gps. It has the highway screen which will give
you your TTG and DTG. The new ones with the software upgrade no have the goto feature on the map
page. I believe it is version 3.05 but don't quote me on that. I still have to send mine in to be upgraded.

Your right the FF side is awsome. And IMO the stronger of the two sides of the unit. The GPS is good but not great. Maybe the software has helped some the minor issues I have.

One already mentioned was the lack of the GOTO feature. But that has been take care of.
The other biggie for me was you could not display the highway page and FF at the same time. Not a big
deal but that ment no way of displaying bearing and distance to a waypoint. Again not a big problem if you don't need to pinpoint a spot on the bottom.

All in all I am very happy with the performance. And I would buy another one tomorrow.

Feel free to email if you have any furthur questions.

I got the uprade and it does make it better. I like the unit alot, but the instructions that come with it suck. You need to hook it up on the bench and learn to use it. The FF side is very very good! the GPS side is not bad at all, just not as good as the FF side.

I like it better than my Furuno 1650. But that is only my opinion, which not everyone shares.

I like the unit alot. Like Sean said, it lacks certain things, but so do all combo units. I think for the $$, you absolutely cannot beat it.

Thanks for the reply guys. That's what I'd hoped to hear. Looks like this will fit in my dash easily so that is what I'm going to probably go with. Hopefully a new unit will already have the new software installed.
