Is there a way to put waypoints in the 182C by using lat/lon or loran TD numbers. Unit is new to me and so far the only way I can enter a way point is to put the cursor on a bouy and hit enter. I have a lot of way point numbers from my old unit with the lat/lon numbers and want to put them in the new unit. Any help would be appreciated.
go to main menu, scroll down to points (or waypoints), hit the menu button again. select create new, have fun. (i'm going from memory but i think this is close)
Paulh: Thanks for your tip. I finally figured it out. I had been on that page several times before but could not figure out what to do. Moving the cursor aroung made a big difference. I guess I am the old fashion type. If I want to do something I want the manual to say - to do this, do so and so. Garmin manual doesn't do this Their manual is very detailed and maybe to detailed for an old cogger like me to grasp.
Thanks again. Put in about 50 old way points this am and have about another hundred to do.
glad i helped, entering waypoints "manually" is no picknick. with larger (2006), more expensive units you get a key pad which would make entering data easier, can't have everything.
I'm new to this electronics forum but have been considering buying either the Garmin 182C ($1,000) or the Garmin 2006 monocrome ($1,200). The 2006 has a much larger screen and the pixels are much better. Is the screen size and the pixels per square inch worth losing the color the 182C has? Thanks for any advice.
you've got to go with color (182c). anything else is like 2d vs. 3d. the 182c screen is large enough to show you what you need to know. it's like looking at a nautical chart. "black and white" will give you eyestrain in comparison. having a keypad to enter data is a good thing however.
