Default 2009 Suzuki DF140 SMIS Gauge Question

I have a brand new Suzuki DF140 and bought the Suzuki SMIS 4inch gauge and the adapter cable, making the circle connection the 4 prong square. I have a NMEA 2000 network installed. I just want to make sure I have the cable connection right on the motor and wanted to run it by the forums. When I take the cowl off, looking at the port side of the motor, just above the upper left corner of the fuse box, I see a groups of wires connected with a 4 prong square connector. It is my understanding that I unhook that and connect my 4 prong square off the interface cable. Is that correct? Im thinking the 4 prong square that is has the rubber cap on it and is connected to the fuse box is the service computer connector? Is that right? Just below the fuse box was the 2 cable connector that I unhooked and connected it to the interface cable trim connector. Does this sound right for the Suzuki experts out there? Any imput would be great. Thanks guys.

I see no one replied, I have a 2008 DF140 and have all the parts to install but have not yet. I have asked questions and got all the information I think. The square plug with the rubber cap on top left corner of the fuse box is the computer service connection and that is where you conned the adapter cable too, not sure what other connector you are talking about but the connector is the one with the rubber cap. Under the fuse box is the connector for the trim, I have not done it yet but is looks like removing the side cover will make it easier to get to. There is a connertor that is connected that has to be unplugged and you plug the cable in there. Everyone tells me to calibrate the trim you have to have at least 13volts so they all recommend connecting a battery charger when you calibrate.
Hope this helps, again I have not done it yet, was waiting on my 20 hr oil change before I tried.

I actually talked with Suzuki and it appears that they have not made the connection right for the 2009 DF140. Even with the adapter you only get to female 4 prong square connectors. They gave me an old wiring harness that had a female connection on the end. I had to cut it off the harness and wire it to the adapter that Suzuki makes for the 2008 and 2009 motors. Then it worked fine. I get all the readings on the gauge. Its very nice. Trying to figure out how to get the pressure readings. Must be another sensor.

Kevinpiner, did you get yours connected? My plug at the fuse is the same as the adapter plug so they will not connect, just wondering if you had any luck?

Hi guy’s
I’m a guy from Sweden and I have the same problem. Female on the engine side and female on the adapter side. Did you by any chance get the wiring scheme? I mean which color on the engine side should connect to witch color on the adapter cable?
I have a DF60 2009
Thanks in advantage

roadster25_25 if you go to the forum of Norges Trollingforbund (Norwegian Trolling Fishers Association) and ask the question about connecting your 2009 DF60 there I expect you will have an answer. I'm one of the administrators of that forum and I have talked with one of the users which have sorted out this connection.

Call the guys over at Brownspoint Marine. They are very knowledgeable.
I had originally bought the Lowrance gauges for my 2008 DF 150's, but ended up returning them when I found out I would lose my analog gauges and "idiot" lights.
I plan on installing two 4" and two 2" Suzuki later when I have the $$. The gauges are #2 or #3 down on my list of things to do in regards to rigging the boat.

I have been told that you can use both the original equipment (analogue with lamps and audio) and connect the NMEA 2000 EP 20 engine interface to the square female four pin service connector located at the engine. I will try to get info on how to connect the wires together.
