Default Cockpit Navnet 3D Install and Sat TV Install Pics

Well I decided to try and get a few projects done before the holiday weekend. Took 2 days off of work and finally got a the 3rd Navnet 3D display flush mounted in the cockpit for fishing. Also made the last minute decision to go ahead and do the the Sat TV this season so I could enjoy it. Very happy I did both projects.

The Sat TV is an Intellian i3 Antenna. It is a great unit. Went with a Direct TV HD receiver and get a few hundred std def channels and about 7 HD channels on the ku band. I could not justify the price of the D4 antenna for a 40ft boat and for how much TV I will watch. The i3 is perfect and the picture is great. So far the SAT TV is awesome. I love it. I had alreay upgraded the salon TV to a LCD Sharp and Bose so the Install was not to difficult. While I was doing everything I put a LCD TV in the master stateroom with a built in DVD player and also connected to the SAT TV. That really helps in updating the interior of the boat. The old tube tv never got any use becasue it had no DVD or cable.

The rationale behind the MFD in the cockpit is that when fishing the people in the action down below need to know where the bottom is. Sure the other features are nice but that was the biggest factor. The install is and ethernet cable and a power cable. That is it. It has full functionality. Feeling guilty about spending the money on a 3rd display I decided to use my rewards points on my VISA so it was essentially free. Sort of.

While we had the boat torn apart in the salon for rigging we also added some cleats mid ship for fenders and the dinghy when out cruising. I have spring cleats but wanted another set further stern in the middle of the boat. Can't have enough cleats. I hate using the grab rail above the window to tie stuff off. Also mounted our inverter display and that project is also just about finished. Will finish that after the holiday.

So far the SAT TV is awesome. I love it. I had alreay upgraded the salon TV to a LCD Sharp and Bose so the Install was not to difficult. While I was doing everything I also put a larger LCD in the master stateroom with DVD. I forgot to take pics of the new tv down below and the cleats but here are some pics of the MFD and the Intellian i3 Antenna.

Leaving tommorrow for the Holiday weekend with the family to put some hours on this stuff and show the wife why all the time taken to work on it was worth it.
