Default raytheon autopilot problem

Hope someone can help.
ok im holding a course, I push the auto button( that should turn it on) and shasame the auto release display pops on,(that turns it off)
my owners handbook tells me its an alarm thats aativated when an autohelm stern drive actuator is returned to manual steering.I dont know what this means, anyone familiar with problem

If your boat doesn't have a sterndrive, go into dealer cal and change the hull type from "stern" to planing or whatever your hull type happens to be. If you do have a sterndrive, your rudder reference transducer is probably shot as the control is "seeing" false steering response from the rfu and kicking the pilot out of auto by mistake as it thinks you have grabbed the wheel.
