Default Raymarine C80 Question

Guys-
I hope you can help me. Anyone have a Raymarine C80? My question is how long can you leave it on without running your batteries down? I have the DSM30, Sirius weather/radio, Radar, and GPS.
The reason i'm asking, is i had an issue today and had my c80 screen off, and the radar was off as well, and everythings tied to my starboard batteries, and when it was time to come home, my batteries were dead. They were fine around 5:30pm when we moved for the last time. This happened at 7:25pm, and i had to limp home w/ one engine.

How long can u run this system, without it draining batteries? Let me know when you get a moment. I've contacted the Raymarine Installers when I got home, because something's not right.
Your input would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

Russ

Your problem is not the C80.....it's a symptom....
re-wire your boat so the engines have their own battery and the electronics work off a house battery. Your system should run for several hours before affecting a good battery. Most likely your batts are bad.

How old are your batteries? Are they deep cycle? Have you checked them lately?

They don't last forever, you know.

Russ,
I have a C80 which I use as a stand alone GPS/Plotter. If we fish the reef overnight & then sleep, the anchor alarm is always on. 6-8 hours plus an LED anchor light. I have never had a problem. I have a dual battery system (start & house).
Is this a new boat or has all been good in the past? Was the Radar on standby? Was the radio on? Anchor/cabin lights on? More info needed.

As the others said, could be battery/wiring problem but a C80 cannot suck a good battery to death in a few hours.

Sounds to me like a wiring issue as well. I have a C80 with DSM 300, radar and sirius. The radar is powered through the C80. With the C80 off, the radar would be off as well. The only thing that would be powered would be the sirius, the DSM and anything else on that battery. The other thing is if you could start one engine, why not let that engine charge the other battery (s)? I only have a single engine, two battery application. When sitting with the engine off, I switch from "all" to #2 (electronics batt) and make sure the Radar is off. When we are ready to go we switch back to 1 for starting then to all to charge both batts. Seems to work pretty well.

Russ,
I also run the c-80 chartplotter with the DSM 300 and integrated 2kw radar. My radar is also powered through the c-80.
I use the same procedures as Tomfrmnh and have never had a battery problem... and we run in some pretty cold and wet conditions on the westcoast of British Columbia.
.... maybe a "rewire" is needed... also make sure your house battery is a good deep cycle marine unit.
