I went through the 40 min. upload and went to my boat to update the unit (HDS10). Will not accept the upload( Very pissed!!! Spent all this money for the unit, bought the $300 Navionics charts, waited the 3 weeks for the update and the stupid update doesn't work. Tried to call Lowrance numerous times and waited 30 min to over an hour for no one to pick up. Horrible customer service. Called Cabellas where I bought the unit and am currently considering getting a humminbird! All other part of the unit work fine. I personally feel that they should concentrate on their customer service so that when their customer buy the $2500+ unit, they can feel confident that the service on how to use it will be there!

Hi Mate.
Its not all doom and gloom. I have a HDS 10 + a HDS10m and these have both updated with the new software, first time.

I would double check your download has installed on the sd card properly.

cheers

I tried twice yesterday to download the update, but both times there was a message that the update was not available at this time and to try later. Haven't tried yet today as I'm still at work. So there might have been a glitch when it was first released.

Hey fishy, you were right there was an error with the sd card and now it is fine. My problem now is that I just returned the Navionics Platinum chart because after I down loaded the update which the unit said it accepted, my unit could not or would not recognize the Navionics cards. Are you using these cards and if so does yours work? Thanks, Sean

Don't have a Platinum Plus yet.
Here is a tide chart from the Nautic (built in charts).
I installed the update on my HDS-8 yesterday. I have the Nautic Insight Charts, but could not figure out HOW to get the new Tidal information to display like this screen shot. Can you give me some info on HOW to get to the tidal information through the menu??? Any help is greatly appreciated!

On your chart you will see little boxes with a C or T in them, T= tides and C= currents. Move your cursor right over the box and hit enter, the info from that box is displayed.

Thanks so much for the tip! I guess I was used to my old Garmin 182C where I had to go into the menu and choose a single location for tidal information...this is much better!

Hey, TCM, I'm considering getting the HDS8 with the Insight USA mapping installed. Couple of questions on the mapping I can't find answers for yet.

1. Is there a list anywhere of the lakes covered by the Insight mapping?
2. Is it worth getting the Navionics Platinum+ charts also? How much additional information is on them compared to the Insight charts?

Thanks a lot for the help on this form board. Indeed the tidal information is displayed on my chart plotter with a nautipath map erm when I click on the T and C on the chart it works fine.
However when I look at the manual for the chart plotter it clearly does show a section just above the tide and moon information that should display tide and current information.
So I guess I was looking in the wrong place for the information.
lowrance have what they said theyd do, brill.
Many thanks stealhead

Finally got to download and upload to HDS last night. Took about 20 minutes max. Works great with Nautic+ card, no hic-ups yet.

When I put the downloaded SD card into the slot, nothing happened.

? How can I check to see whether the download took? It took almost 30 minutes and then showed complete, but how to know for sure? I placed the card back into the reader and a box popped up on my screen, but there was nothing in the box. However, when I tried to download again via Lowrance, the popup box showed 303MB in there?

Also, I got a message that the digital signature for Lowrance had expired. I hit Run anyway, but could this be a problem?

? The unit is acting like it doesn't see the SD chip. Are there any buttons I'm supposed to be pushing to get the download to work?

something must be up with the downloaded files on your SD card because upgrading it should be as simple as putting the SD card in the slot on the front of the unit (when it is powered OFF)...then turning the power ON. The HDS should automatically detect the new files on the SD card and do the upgrade. You should NOT have to press any buttons (other than powering on) to get the update to start.
