Could you imagine someone designing an electronic product that works RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX?????????????????

Like auto manufacturers there are a dozen companies making 25 different items in 20 sizes and 150 colors. NO WONDER!!!!!!

I tried to download the update 3 times on two different computers using two different SD ports.
First, the message that the Lowrance Security Certificate is expired...would that have anything to do with the card not reading correctly?

Second, how can I know for sure that the SD card has the downloaded information on it, even though the download shows completed after about 40 minutes?

Third, if you insert even a blank SD card into the HDS, should there be a message on the HDS' screen that a new card is installed?

The possible suspects are the new SD card, the new HDS unit, the download process (Security Certificate?) or operator error. The last two are pretty procedural, so I'm trying to either confirm or eliminate the SD card. No, I don't have another one to try it with...

Does anybody have any answers or suggestions? Today we went out on the boat and the GPS signal was spastic...the screen froze (boat icon didn't move for miles and had to Restart it to get a new position) and the Sonar was pure BS.

Would all of these be from a lack of the updated software, or from a bogus HDS unit?

What size SD card are you using? I had issues using a 2GB card so I tried another (smaller) card and had no issues. Since then I've seen some anecdotal commentary that seems to suggest that SD cards 2GB and larger don't work

First time I tried it it did not work. I put up a post on here and was rescued. It seems when I cliked on the link to the file I saved the file to the SD card which is a .exe file. This in not the update. I looked at the file on the SD card using windows explorer and ran the .exe file which will in turn automatically download the update. After this it worked fine. The other thing you can do is run instead of save the .exe file and save yourself a step.

HDS_203050 (4).exe is what's in the window while the download is at 84%. It seems that the time before that, it had a (3) in there; which corresponds with how many times I've tried to load it. To answer Parchy78, it's a 2GB small card.

When I insert the card into the reader and the box opens up, there is no file in there that I can see. Hit the OPEN key and nothing happens, either.

How can I find the file on the SD card?

Linesider04 gets the prize My recent change to firefox.com resulted in my seeing that HDS203050.exe in the box on the screen. I thought that the box represented that the item had downloaded, when in fact it needed to be clicked on in order to Run the program and install it on the SD card.

The update is now in the HDS, so thanks to all of you for your support.
