Default Navionics Gold vs. Nauticpath?

One chip is about $200 and the other one is about $70. Photos of the charts show about the same detail.

Our boating is all in-shore and within 50 miles; the purpose is to stay in the channels and know where the real shallow water is.

Anybody using Nauticpath that can tell me how it does?

I have both. The difference in depth color shades on the Navionics is helpful but that is about the only difference. Both have contour lines and spot soundings. I do like the Navionics better but both work fine. Tough choice

Thanks, surfcaster. If both have the same depth readings and channel markers, then the choice becomes easier for our minimal needs. That $100 difference can go into the gas tank.
Thanks!

I have both also.

The Nauticpath has proven accurate and is easier to use. The Navionics requires you to pick one of about a dozen charts. I see some differences in them and some are definitely more accurate so I'm not sure which to use to be honest.

For your purposes, the Nautipath is fine. I think they do yearly updates so make sure you check the date on the chip to make sure it's current. If you want to try my old one (2006 I think), let me know. I'm not using it so you can borrow to test if you'd like but I'd suggest buying a more current one.

Basically the Nautipath is built into the hard drive of my Lowrance Chart plotter and I have both Garmin and C maps plotters aboard. The Nautipath is more than adequate for the navigation in your area. I agree that the shading may be helpful.
