Default Raymarine ST6002S1G Compatable with Grady 265 Express

I am looking at the Raymarine SmartPilot ST6002S1G for my 2000 Grady 265 Express with twin 200hp HPDI's.

This auto pilot is a kit that supports a specific pump, rod length, ect -

Can anyone confirm that this is correct for my 265 Express?

Thanks

Tim

Tim,

On my last boat, a 2000 Wellcraft 290 Coastal with twin 225 HP Evinrude FICHTs, I had essentially the same Raymarine AP setup. I had the S1G course computer coupled with the ST6001 display head. (The 6001 was essentially the same as the 6002, just with more rounded appearance.)

The system will work FANTASTICALLY, or at least mine did. Make sure, if you have the Teleflex SeaStar rotating cylinder hydraulic steering, that you do NOT use the linear rudder reference unit (RRU). The rotating cylinder will twist the linear RRU guts and tear it up. You need to make sure you have a "potted" (sealed) rotary RRU, and you will have NO problems. Also, make sure you locate the fluxgate compass low and away from ferrous metal and you'll be good to go.

I have the Raymarine on my 2520SLD Parker Sport cabin and it has performed flawlessly.
