I have a Garmin 498C GPS and like using the map page but the map doesn't move with the boat. I always have to pan to keep the boat in the center of the map. Is there a function on the GPS that the screen automatically moves with the boat or am I stuck panning as I the boat moves?
Your unit has two basic chart operating modes position and pointer. The pan mode is initiated by pressing the rocker button. To go back to the position mode press the Quit Button.
Thank you for the information, but what rocker button are you referring to? The up,down, left, right??? Does the position mode allow the chart to move with the boat?
pushing the rocker button up/down/left/right activates the cursor. WHen you push the Quit button you'll revert to the position mode that will center your boat in your display and that's where it will stay.
